Faith in the Recovery Journey from Any Addiction

Addiction Hope is a Christian organization dedicated to promoting recovery from addictions for all individuals from all faiths.

Many struggle with addiction to alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, and other compulsive behaviors.  These addictions can lead to the devastation and destruction of a life.  Overcoming addiction is no easy task, even when the stakes are high and one stands to lose all they value in life.  Some have already lost all and yet continue to be dominated by their addictive behavior.

Are you able to fully recover from an addiction without a faith in God? The answer is simple. Yes, you can.  But, consider this: Why would you try to accomplish such a feat without the help from the Creator of the Universe? There are multitudes of things that can be achieved without the God's assistance, but remember, "The world and everything in it that people desire is passing away; but those who do the will of God live forever." (1 John 2:17)

Recovering from substance abuse, alcoholism, sex addiction, or any other addiction is tremendously difficult and trying to "white knuckle" it is not the way to overcome this hellish road. You may have already tried it this way, and it has likely failed every time. Recovery is undoubtedly one of the most  challenging thing you will ever do, but you do not have to walk this path alone. Our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ are there to walk with you. They are waiting to help you, comfort you, and most of all, Love You.

John 3:16 reads: For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life. God loves you so much that he sacrificed His only Son for you. YES, YOU.  All of the shame, self-hate, humiliation, disgust, and sins are washed away. There is no other love like His. Do not think for a moment that He does not think you are worth the sacrifice, because you are. All you have to do is accept His gift of the Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior. Just ask Him into your heart, and He will begin to transform your life.

Understand that this walk to recovery will not be easy. Everyone struggle with temptations and selfish choices. God never promised any of His children that life would be painless or easy. What He did promise was that He would never, ever leave us or forsake us. He will take your hand and walk alongside you through this trying time.
